The tradition continues for many as they start their holiday season with the Goulds. The Mansion at Georgian Court will be aglow with cheer as you join us for the 17th Annual Holiday Social. Celebrate the holidays with Mrs. Gould and her special guest Lucille LeSueur, a 1920s chorus girl who advanced her career and became film legend Joan Crawford (1904–1977). $45 per person; includes performance and tea luncheon. Tickets must be purchased online in advance; no tickets will be sold at the door. For groups of 20 or more, please call for discount pricing.
The popular Holiday Model Trains display will once again be on display in the Main Gallery of the Monmouth Museum. This is one of the most unique Train Exhibitions in the world because it is surrounded by an International Juried Art Exhibition, this year’s theme is, Fabulous Food! The trains have 6 lines on 3 levels, with over 1200 scale feet of track. The model train layout includes an airport and Jersey Shore seaside boardwalk amusement park. Much of the community is represented by the various real estate named for local businesses and families. The Ocean County Society of Model Railroaders assemble the Holiday Model Trains and create numerous upgrades and additions to this ever-expanding display. The exhibition is designed for kids of all ages, with interactive buttons accessible for their height.

The would-be elf is raised, unaware that he is actually a human, until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh realities that his father is on the naughty list and his half-brother doesn’t even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas. Elf, The Musical is a modern day holiday classic is sure to make everyone embrace their “inner-elf.”
Artists are invited to enter art works in this holiday exhibit which will focus on presenting art that is both affordable and appealing to general audiences. The works in this exhibit will be small (smaller than 11×14 inches) and priced less than $100. Any artistic medium is acceptable and works can be framed or unframed. Pedestals will be available for small 3-dimensional works. Each artist can present up to 5 works that fit these criteria, with one entry fee covering all 5 works. All works must be for sale and Belmar Arts will retain a 25% sales commission fee for members and 40% for non-members. Membership can be added at checkout. If a work is sold during the exhibit, it may be replaced with a similar work at no extra charge.

Life, Death, Life Again: Children Sentenced to Die in Prison is a verbatim theater piece by Elizabeth Weill-Greenberg, that shares the stories of four people sentenced to die in prison for violent crimes committed as children, and a victim’s grandson who chose to lead with forgiveness. Each performance will be followed by a facilitated discussion on the themes discussed in the play – radical forgiveness and how we can create a more humane criminal justice system.

Monmouth University will host its fourth annual Holiday Bazaar on Thursday, Dec. 6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Anacon Hall in the Rebecca Stafford Student Center. This event is free and open to the public. Local vendors will be selling a variety of fun and unique products including jewelry, home goods, clothing, cookware and much more.
The event is sponsored by the Global Experience Program, which facilitates service trips for Monmouth University students who will spend their winter, spring, and summer breaks volunteering in Haiti and Guatemala. Proceeds from vendor table rentals will help support the organizations the students are working with in these countries.

In addition to his work on television, he is a New York Times best-selling author whose books include Death by Black Hole & Other Cosmic Quandaries, Welcome to the Universe, and last year’s Astrophysics for People in a Hurry.
Currently the head of NYC’s Hayden Planetarium and a research associate in the Department of Astrophysics at the American Museum of Natural History, Tyson is the recipient of 20 honorary doctorates as well as the NASA Distinguished Public Service Medal, the highest award given by NASA to a non-government citizen.
For this entertaining event, Tyson will host a fascinating multi-media presentation and conduct a Q&A session with audience members.
