12-year old Daniela Olt of Colts Neck has made it her passion to help children through her own 501c3 organization called “Daniela’s Wish.”
Daniela’s Wish is a 501c3 non-profit organization based in Colts Neck, New Jersey. Their mission is to help children have comfort and safety—especially during times of sadness—by providing items they have lost or need to get through a tragedy or time of sadness.
At age 7, Daniela sent more then 1,000 boxes of cookies and 300 new stuffed animals to the children in Haiti, after the earthquake.
In 2012, she helped kids affected by Hurricane Sandy by collecting more than 3,000 books, new toys and gift cards and distributing them to children throughout the Garden State.
Daniela’s reason for starting this charity was simple: she wanted to remind children that even when facing issues– they’re still kids… and should have a reason to smile or forget their problems– even for just a little while.
But she didn’t stop there, Daniela’s Wish helps kids who are not only affected by natural disasters, but also kids that are ill—both at home and in the hospital. Daniela’s Wish helps to grant “wishes” to these children, such as parties, trips, toys, and just companionship. They also hold toy and blanket drives to distribute to local hospitals, and they work with and donate to many other local organizations.
Daniela has granted many wishes and has a partnership with 3 area hospitals bringing donations to each one 3 times a year.
One wish granted can impact so many and last a lifetime! Together we can all make a difference in a child’s life.
