Volunteer Beach Sweeps in Point Pleasant Beach

Fall means many things in the Jersey Shore area—including cleaning up the beaches!

Jersey Central Power & Light is helping to keep New Jersey’s beaches clean by sponsoring Clean Ocean Action’s Fall 2018 Beach Sweeps.  The energy company supported cleanup work in October on the beaches of Asbury Park, Belmar and this location in Point Pleasant Beach.

Clean Ocean Action’s Beach Sweeps is one of the longest-running beach cleanups of its kind in the world. The purpose is to rid beaches of unsightly and harmful debris.  And for this year’s efforts, JCP&L teamed up with Jersey Shore Girl Scout Junior Troop 1782 from Brick.  The troop, along with parents and siblings, cleaned up the shore along Jenkinson’s in Point Pleasant Beach and earned service hours.

Each year, volunteers clean beaches in New Jersey from Raritan to Delaware Bays. Since the program began in 1985, more than 116-thousand volunteers have participated. They have removed millions of pieces of debris from beaches and waterways….protecting one of our state’s most valuable natural resources—our shoreline.
