For many of us, coffee is an important part of our daily routines. Finding great coffee is sometimes a hassle, and you don’t want to always settle for that $2 cup from the gas station from the pot that has been sitting out since 6 am. For staying sane on any given Monday, I took to the road to find some of the best coffee brewers on the Jersey Shore.

Rook Coffee

Rook has an incredible reputation for having some of the freshest and some of the most exotic beans for their coffee. Their coffee ranges from mild, medium, to dark and has a good amount of options in each. In the mild section, I’ve found my favorite to be the Costa Rican blend. Rook describes it as having a dark chocolate taste with a hint of orange zest and honey, which sounds unusual but is quite the delightful cup of joe.

I personally love a dark cup of coffee and always go for the same blend at Rook, Bali. It’s a dark chocolate and ripe strawberry blend of coffee that hits you right where you need to get your day started. It’s a cup of coffee that certainly packs a punch, but is very tolerable thanks to an incredible blend of flavors.

For all coffee flavors and descriptions, visit rookcoffee.com. If you would like to visit Rook to try their coffees, they have locations in Oakhurst, Long Branch, Little Silver, Wall, Red Bank, Manalapan, Colts Neck, Monmouth Medical Center and Holmdel.

Inkwell Coffeehouse

The Inkwell Coffeehouse has been around for a very long time, and is still a very popular spot in Long Branch. It’s a very low key spot with a hipster vibe, with great music daily, and is open late at night. Inkwell is known for the experience, and it is certainly a great place to go and lounge and relax for a while. While Inkwell has many reasons for why it’s so popular, their coffee bar and specialty coffees take the cake. They don’t mess around when it comes to the specialty coffee! They are beautifully prepared and aesthetically pleasing to the eye.  I’ve been to Inkwell a few times and usually go for the French Vanilla or Mocha Java. Most of the coffees Inkwell offers are going to be tolerable by any coffee lover, and they have incredible flavors for any palate! Inkwell comes highly recommended for by me—with it great food, terrific coffee and good music.

Eagle Specialty Coffee

In the process of writing this blog, I had to track down a decent number of coffee shops to see which ones were great. I’ve probably driven past Eagle Specialty Coffee 100 times and never knew it was there. It’s a hidden gem in Eatontown and each cup of coffee is created with precision by the baristas. I ordered a 16oz Cappuccino for $3.75. But this was no ordinary cup of coffee. It was absolutely delicious and even had a design with the foam on top. I felt like a great deal of care went into my cup of coffee. They have a lot of other amazing coffees that I have yet to try, but definitely plan to. Next time you’re driving down 35, keep your eyes open for Eagle Specialty Coffee. You won’t be disappointed.

I went around the shore to try and find some great spots for some fantastic coffee.

I couldn’t go to all of them so if I left out your favorite, be sure to tell ShoreTVNJ all about your favorite below!
