One of ShoreTV New Jersey’s missions is to give back to our Jersey Shore area communities by sharing positive stories about the people and places that make this part of New Jersey a special place to live and to visit.

And that is exactly why we want to tell you all about Big Brothers Big Sisters of Monmouth and Middlesex Counties, based in Asbury Park.  And hopefully, some of you reading this information will be inspired to learn more and become a mentor.

Here’s what the organization wants the community to know:

Big Brothers Big Sisters’ Mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported 1-to-1 relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.

Our Vision is that all children achieve success in life.

Big Brothers Big Sisters says:

Our agency makes a positive difference by matching children with a caring volunteer who becomes a mentor, a guide and a friend. We are providing more than 700 children with a Big Brother or Big Sister to spend time and build a friendship with.

Volunteers come from all walks of life and need no special skills.  They must be at least 19-years old, live or work in Monmouth or Middlesex Counties and be willing to make the commitment to volunteer which entails a thorough enrollment process, monthly support phone calls with a case manager and spending 2-4 hours with their little brother or sister twice a month for at least one year.

Not only does the child benefit from one on one time, the Big Brother or Sister gets the chance to experience life through the eyes of a child.  BBBSMMC currently has 40 children, mostly boys, waiting to be matched with a mentor and our greatest need is for male volunteers.  Big Brothers Big Sisters is a donor-supported, volunteer agency and our funding is through individual gifts, community and foundation support and special events.

For more information on volunteering or to donate call 732-544-2224 or email info@bbbsmmc.org.

If your goal in 2017 is to make a difference, why not do so for a Jersey Shore area child…
