Check out our latest video from the beach in Long Branch.  The wind and rough surf is picking up but as you see we still found people on the beach!

The Latest Update from Jersey Central Power & Light:  As Tropical Storm Hermine threatens the Jersey Coast, JCP&L says the power company has more than 2,400 emergency support personnel on stand-by for whatever comes our way.

JCP&L has staging areas set up at Monmouth Race Track in Oceanport, Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, Blue Claws Stadium in Lakewood, and Forked River Power Plant.  In addition 8 helicopters are on stand-by to patrol power lines.

In addition, crews set up flood barriers and pumps in several key substations.  The power company is also prepared to activate its Emergency Command Center and Incident Command Center.

Residents are asked to report downed power wires. FirstEnergy customers without power are asked to call 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877) or click the “Report Outage” link at www.firstenergycorp.com.

You can also receive email and text alerts to receive important storm information.  You can sign up for those alerts at www.firstenergycorp.com/connect

And a reminder to plan ahead. In case of an outage, have on hand:

  • Flashlights and Fresh Batteries
  • Emergency supply of bottled water
  • Charged cell phone
  • Blankets
  • Battery-powered radio
