
Rockin’ Road to Dublin returns to Pollak Theatre in 2018 by popular demand! Created by the 2009 World Champion of Irish Dance Scott Doherty (Riverdance & Lord of the Dance) and worldwide touring Irish musician Chris Smith, Rockin’ Road is the new generation of Irish music and dance. RRTD is a breathtaking display of classic Irish tunes accented by rock ‘n’ roll riffs, electrifying dancers and a dynamic light show. Enjoy the thrilling sights and sounds as daring performers execute rapid-fire leaps, twirls and footwork, and nimble fiddlers square off with driving electric guitar chords and pulse-pounding drum beats.

Joe D’Urso and Joe Rapolla return to Monmouth University with their Songwriters by the Sea series for an evening of relaxed and inspired round-robins. This is a rare opportunity to see and hear a unique collection of very special guest artists that in the past has included, Marshall Crenshaw, Allison Moorer, Garland Jeffreys, Joe Grushecky, John Eddie, Willie Nile and many others, in an intimate and interactive forum. What started out as a coffee shop show for area songwriters to casually perform with other writers and is now a main feature of the Light of Day Festival in Asbury Park, has quickly evolved into an international series featuring some of the top songwriters in music today.

Angela Meade makes her Met role debut as the title character in Semiramide. Rossini’s opera, which has not been seen at the Met in 25 years, will be conducted by Maurizio Benini and feature Elizabeth DeShong as the Commander of the Assyrian army Arsace, Javier Camarena as an Indian king Idreno, Ildar Abdrazakov as the prince Assur, and Ryan Speedo Green as the high priest Oroe.

Monmouth University will be hosting the “Black Maria Film Festival” this March 29th in Pollack Theatre. The festival was founded in 1981 as a tribute to Thomas Edison’s development of the motion picture at his laboratory, dubbed the “Black Maria” film studio, the first in the world, in West Orange, NJ. It is a free event and will start at 6:30 PM.

Phelim McDermott returns to the Met staging Mozart’s comedy Così fan tutte, led by David Robertson. Set in the 1950s on Coney Island, the cast features Amanda Majeski as the conflicted Fiordiligi; Serena Malfi as her sister, Dorabella; Tony Award winner Kelli O’Hara as their feisty maid, Despina; Ben Bliss and Adam Plachetka as the sisters’ fiancés, Ferrando and Guglielmo; and Christopher Maltman as the cynical Don Alfonso. Così fan tutte is a co-production with the English National Opera.

Park Gates will open at 5:30 am; service will start at 6 am and either be held within the Historic Chapel or outside at the Gazebo. The event is FREE and OPEN TO ALL! Donations would be very appreciated to help fund the final phase of exterior painting and floor renewal at the Historic Chapel at Allaire.

Come to Wall, NJ this April to assist with recovery efforts following Hurricane Sandy, which destroyed 346,000 homes and $30 billion worth of damage in New Jersey alone. Lodging will be at the historic Camp Evans, now a site dedicated to volunteer housing.
The $135 housing fee includes lodging from Thursday April 5th to Sunday, April 8th and includes breakfast costs, a group pizza dinner on Friday night, logistical costs of the event manager, and a small donation to the One Brick Scholarship fund.

Come to the Asbury Park Convention Hall this April on one of Jersey’s most historic boardwalks for the Inaugural Catsbury Park Cat Convention! The two day event will bring together cat lovers and some of social media’s favorite felines alike! Informative sessions and seminars will be held by respected advocates and speakers on behalf of cat rescue, health and behavior, and cat related products plus innovative merchandise will be available to purchase from vendors.
Fun games like Cat Trivia, Cat Bingo, and the Cat Art show will be available for children 12 and under at the Convention Hall. However, tickets to these events MUST be purchased separately.
Children under 3 years old attend FREE.

It’s just like book club but with albums! Get together with other music enthusiasts on Tuesday nights in Woods Theatre to discuss some of the greatest records of all-time! Listen to the album beforehand and then come prepared to discuss… there will be special guest moderators and panelists at each event!
This discussion will feature Bruce Springsteen Darkness on the Edge of Town. This event is free but registration is required.

Come to Manasquan High School in April to get inspired by your local eighth graders! Our 8th grade leaders at Spring Lake Heights Elementary School present an amazing evening of inspring talks that challenge perspectives, open minds, and motivate change.
Hosted by by Every Voice Educates/SLH Elementary School, there will be plenty of inspiration from our students, guest speakers, and local leaders centered around topics like how sports impact students and their identities, how to ease teen anxiety, etc.
There will also be a fashion show!
