Registration is now open for the 15th Annual Riker Danzig 10K Race happening on May 5 in Newport. The beautiful, flat course takes runners through the bustling downtown Newport neighborhood, along the scenic Hudson River Waterfront Walkway with its spectacular views of the New York City skyline, and finally wraps up in the Newport Town Square. The event will feature raffles and giveaways from Newport hotspots, as well as refreshments from neighborhood vendors including NJ Beer Company, which will be serving post-race brews at Komegashi Too. Last year, close to 2,000 runners participated in the run, and this year’s race aims to raise over $5,000 for the area’s only not-for-profit hospital and regional trauma center, RWJ Barnabas Health Jersey City Medical Center. Nearly $16,000 will be given out in prize money to top runners in a range of categories. Register either for the Newport Double (which includes the 10K plus the Half-Marathon race in September) for $77, or for the 10K race alone, which costs $30 if you register by April 5 (and $33 after that until race day). Come to Point Pleasant this May for the 6th annual “Derby For Declarations” watching the 144th version of the Kentucky Derby! The event will be held in the beautiful, private living room of the 709 South Restaurant with a live stream of the race.

A Wildwood’s tradition since 1909! Registration at Wildwood’s Convention Center from 4:30 p.m. – 5:15 p.m. No entries accepted after 5:30 p.m. Judging occurs while participants are lined up in the circle in front of the Convention Center. Line-up begins at 5:30 p.m., parade steps off at 6 p.m. SHARP with final route TBD. Baby Parade Winners are announced following the parade. FREE to register. Annual baby crawling race for babies up to 15 months. The good-natured competition has challenged parents to leave their infant child in the center of a parachute spread out on the beach and has challenged the infants to crawl back to the perimeter of the parachute and the welcoming arms of their parents. Registration is free and begins at 8:30 am. The contest begins at 9 am.

Owners displaying cars should report to Hadley Avenue, off of Hooper Avenue as always but will not start lining up at Washington St. but at the corner of Hadley and Madison Ave. Cars will still face South like last year. Please arrive to start lining up beginning at 4:30pm. Cars will be directed onto Washington St. starting no earlier than 5:00pm. The area gets congested with traffic around 4:30 so we try to wait to move cars into their places until employees have left the downtown. Owners with vintage automobiles dating prior to 1986 are eligible to compete for a “Best in Show” trophy. Registration is FREE.
