Bring your four-legged friend out for a fun-filled day of splashing & playing! Sunday, September 9th, 3pm – 5pm. Rabies tag & license required.   The Bordatella vaccine (for Kennel Cough-recommended by veterinarians anytime dogs intermingle for a length of time), must be given at least 48 hours prior to this event in order for the vaccine to be effective. Rabies tag is NOT acceptable proof. All dogs must have a collar and a leash must be on hand by owner. Limit one dog per handler, NO aggressive dogs allowed (any dog exhibiting aggressive behavior will be required to leave with no refund). Every owner takes full responsibility for his or her dog at all times. Every owner must provide proof of vaccinations and license within 24 hours upon request.  Advance ticket (not receipt) is required for entry.  Swimming is for dogs only.  Humans should not enter the water past knee depth.  No puppies under 6 months of age are allowed.  Female dogs in season are not allowed.  Paws in the Park will be held rain or shine!

This is a Special Event, not a waterpark admission. Easter passes, coupons, specials and discounts are not valid for admission to this event. Admission is $20 per dog, $10 per handler, and extra guests are $10 each, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the local SPCA.

Andrew Anderson, historian at the Double Trouble Village State Historic site will share dramatic slides and video of the labor-intensive dry-picking harvest of cranberries and the modern day water harvest at cranberry farms in New Jersey. A Q&A session will follow this presentation.

Don’t miss ‘An Intimate Evening with Kristen Chenoweth when the Tony and Emmy Award-winning actress and singer visits the Count Basie Theatre. The Wicked star’s career spans film, television, voiceover and stage. Chenoweth has performed to sold-out audiences across the world, including performances at Carnegie Hall and Royal Albert Hall.  Notable television roles include appearances in “The West Wing,” Disney’s “Descendants”, and “The Muppets.”

The creators of Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo Live want to take your family on an all new adventure – this time to the bottom of the ocean. Erth’s Prehistoric Aquarium Adventure is an immersive experience that invites you to jump in and explore unknown ocean depths where prehistoric marine reptiles lived eons ago – and maybe live still today! Erth shows are at the forefront of family entertainment, using actors, technology, puppets, science and imagination to create an amazing visual experience that connects young audiences to the real science of paleontology.

This exhibit showcases the beauty of nature and the unseen secrets of NJ through the use of photographs. The wild life exhibit combines both science and art to show the natural diversity that NJ has to offer.

At the Asbury Park museum there will be a presentation by Claire T. Garland, Director of the Sand Hill Indian Historical Society and Sharon Coleman Davis. The two ladies will share their family roots and history of the Cherokee Indian inhabitants of our area going back to the early 1700s.

Instructor, Gayle Stahlhuth, artistic director of East Lynne Theater Company, uses writing and simple acting exercises to trigger the writer’s imagination. The workshop is geared for those who have written plays, as well as those who have always wanted to try their hand at writing a play. Participants are encouraged to create short plays during the workshop.

Aside from performing, directing, and producing, Stahlhuth is also a produced playwright, who has received writing commissions from The Smithsonian Institution, Theatreworks/USA and The Illinois and Missouri Humanities Councils, and grants from The New Jersey Humanities Council.  Her plays have been performed at such places as the NYC International Fringe Festival, The Samuel French One-Act Festival, Manhattan Theatre Club, Arvada Center in Denver, the Pennsylvania Stage Company, the Phoenix Theater in Indianapolis, and the Equity professional East Lynne Theater Company, located in Cape May. She has taught playwriting to a variety of ages throughout the country at theaters, universities, libraries, public schools, and writing conferences. For several years, Gayle was a popular workshop leader at the now-disbanded North Wildwood Beach Writer’s Conference.

Come join us at Avon by the Sea for the sunrise in order to visualize the best colors, reflections, and waves to create your very own image.  In order to participate, you must provide your own DSLR or mirrorless camera and tripod. After creation of your image, hot beverages will be provided! If weather conditions are unfavorable, the event will be rescheduled to Sunday, March 17th.

After last year’s successful inaugural event — featuring heavy-hitters such as Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg, Former Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno, Freeholder Ashley Bennett, Comedian Julia Scotti, and more — Deputy Mayor Amy Quinn, Councilwoman Yvonne Clayton, Comedian/Politico Jess Alaimo, and AP Women’s March founder Dani Fiore are keeping the conversation going with the event which again promises to be both both educational and entertaining. The non-partisan event aims to look at issues that affect women across party lines in an engaging and realistic manner. The APWC will not only leave audience members inspired but also with direction on how to actually bring forth change. Last year, with over a thousand women in attendance at the Paramount theatre, the Convention addressed issues such as: Equal Pay, Women’s Healthcare, and Sexual Violence. This year the event will be at the Stone Pony and will tackle the issues of: Cannabis and Wellness, Being A Trans Ally (with Garden State Equality), and Agreeing To Disagree.

Help our community, marine life, and beaches by picking up trash and making them ready for those sunny summer days. All ages welcome, be sure to bring some gloves. When you arrive you will be given black bags for trash and white for recyclables, as well as data cards to track what kind of trash you pick up.

On April 13th, Warhorse SCUBA will run their first “Urban Scavenger Hunt”, a town-wide scavenger hunt through the town of Belmar, New Jersey! You can join as an individula or as a team of you and your friends (2-6 people max) to compete against others to gather pictures of you objectives, and complete puzzles to reach the finish line! This is a family friendly event will take teams all over the town, to complete the obstacles and riddles to reach the finish line! The entrance fee is $25 per person – this will give each participant a FREE event T-shirt and a FREE beer/soda at our ending location – The Beach Haus Brewery!!! Jacob’s Ladder improves the leadership skills of our youth by providing opportunities for development of leadership and self perseverance. We are encouraging our youth to emerge in STEM programs to help them become more college/career ready. Our scholarship dance will help support our efforts in sending our 50 kids, K-12, to those classes.
