Known as Newark’s “Musical Ambassadors”, NBCS was named the Discover Jersey Arts winner of the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Choral Group for 2015. Our students have been heard throughout the world, performing a diversified repertoire that includes classical music, spirituals, folk music and jazz.
Straight No Chaser (SNC) are neither strait-laced nor straight-faced, but neither are they vaudeville-style kitsch. They have emerged as a phenomenon with a massive fan base, numerous national TV appearances and proven success with CD releases. Boys have been singing at Vienna’s Imperial Chapel since 1296. In 1498, Maximilian I (HRR) moved his court to Vienna, lock, stock, and choir, thus founding the “Hofmusikkapelle” (Chapel Imperial), and the Vienna Boys Choir. Over the centuries, the Viennese Court attracted great musicians like Isaac, de Monte, Fux, Caldara, Gluck, Salieri, Mozart, and Bruckner; Joseph Haydn, Michael Haydn, and Franz Schubert were themselves choir boys. Until 1918, the boys sang exclusively for the court. In the 1920s, the choir was reestablished as a private organisation. Since 1926, 2482 Vienna Boys Choir has sung 1000 tours in 97 different countries. Gerald Wirth is the choir’s Artistic Director, and its president.

The Pub Crawl will take place in Downtown Freehold on March 14th. This event will stop at some of the most popular pubs in the town. These include The American Hotel, Federici’s, Court Jester, and Metropolitan Café. There will be bagpipers throughout the places, and guests can choose to participate in either a Beer Crawl or Scotch Crawl. Prices will vary depending on which one participates in. Tickets can be found online and guests must show ID.
