(mostly) TRUE THINGS is a game wrapped in a storytelling show with a side of music. Four terrific multigenerational storytellers tell true stories about the holidays from their own lives. Three of those stories include little white lies woven into the narrative – details you have to listen closely to detect. The audience gets to interview the storytellers, then votes for the person they think told it straight. Winners get a prize.

Howie Mandel has remained a constant force in show business for over 30 years. Wanda has appeared in several films, like 2017’s Snatched with Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn, Evan Almighty in which she co-starred with Steve Carell, and Monster-In-Law starring opposite Jane Fonda, to name a few. She can also be heard in animated movies like Over the Hedge and The Barnyard, and as “Granny” in the most recent Ice Age films.

The spring production of the Department of Music and Theatre is Steel Magnolias, the touching comedy-drama by Robert Harling, directed by Dr. John Burke. The play visits six Louisiana women delicate as magnolia flowers, but tough as steel when they must be – as they gather in their small-town beauty parlor to gossip, complain, and share the joys and sorrows they face in their lives. Despite differences in age, backgrounds, and attitudes, their camaraderie and sense of humor help them grow through good times and bad.
