When his granddaughter Jenny comes for a visit, Farmer Brown declares the farm a “tech-free zone.” He confiscates her laptop, leaving it in the cold barn along with the shivering cows who use Jenny’s computer to type messages requesting blankets. Farmer Brown refuses and the cows go on strike. Will Farmer Brown give in to the animals’ demands? Will Jenny get her computer back? The Wailin Jennys are Nicky Mehta, Ruth Moody and Heather Masse three distinct voices that together make an achingly perfect vocal sound.
Although known primarily as an acoustic outfit, The Wailin’ Jennys have a diverse musical background that has shaped their musical sensibilities. Soprano Ruth Moody (vocals, guitar, accordion, banjo, bodhrán) is a classically trained vocalist and pianist with a burgeoning solo career. Mezzo Nicky Mehta (vocals, guitar, harmonica, drums, ukulele), a classically trained dancer raised on ’70s a.m. radio and heavily influenced by alternative pop, was nominated for a Canadian Indie Music Award for her striking debut solo album, 2002’s Weather Vane. Alto Heather Masse (vocals, upright bass) is a Jazz Voice graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music, who has performed in Mark O’Connor’s Hot Swing, Darol Anger’s Republic of Strings and is a regular guest on A Prairie Home Companion.
Diavolo architecture in motion uses dance to portray the connection between the human body and its architectural environment. Meet the Pink Power Party Host: Thunder106’s Nina Siciliano
A true Jersey Girl, Nina was born and raised in Asbury Park, New Jersey. From a young age, Nina displayed her passion for entertaining, participating in her high school’s performing arts
group. Coming from a family of singers, she began singing in her family’s band, PS4, soon after high school. Nina has performed in front of thousands, singing the national anthem in front of Nets fans in the New Jersey Idol contest, as well as for the Lakewood Blueclaws at FirstEnergy Park.
She graduated from Monmouth University with a Bachelor’s degree in Radio/Television Communication, specializing in Radio. Nina joined the Press Communications family in 2009. Nina is currently the co-host of the Thunder 106 Morning Show, Pork Roll and Eggs with Nina and Tom, weekdays from 6-10am.
Nina continues to achieve many great accomplishments including partnering with a number of great organizations through charity work and advocacy. Most recently, she traveled to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, to assist in Thunder 106’s endeavors for the upcoming 5th annual radiothon, that will take place on April 5th and 6th. Outside of her radio life, Nina is a mother of two beautiful children and the wife to a very proud husband. Nina takes pride in her work, pride in her family, and continues to take pride in all of her efforts with Thunder 106 moving forward.
Angela Meade makes her Met role debut as the title character in Semiramide. Rossini’s opera, which has not been seen at the Met in 25 years, will be conducted by Maurizio Benini and feature Elizabeth DeShong as the Commander of the Assyrian army Arsace, Javier Camarena as an Indian king Idreno, Ildar Abdrazakov as the prince Assur, and Ryan Speedo Green as the high priest Oroe.
