Come to The Historic Village at Allaire this spring to learn about some of Allaire’s history at Camp Burton! You will learn how the Boy Scouts of America and others have utilized this camp throughout history through exploration of the camp, as well as craft demonstrations, games, and demonstrations of life saving skills to name a few.
Come see local artists show off their craft en Plein Air up and down the Main Street. Businesses will be open late for an evening of sales, socializing, dining, art, and shopping! Visitors are encouraged to post photos on social media using the hashtags #BoontonArtists and #BoontonFF!
Once again we will be closing Morris Avenue from Third to Fourth to turn the space into an Italian village. There will be live music with Julian & Dominique , Italian food provided by our member restaurants with a wine and beer garden to give us the al fresco food court that our visitors have come to love.
We are having Face Painting and Balloon Twisting and for the first time at the Italian Festival, a Petting Zoo –it was a big hit at the Irish Festival! The Spaghetti Eating Contest, a crowd favorite, will be back as well. New to the Italian Festival will be the Spring Lake School of Dance performing Italian folk dances – a tremendous draw for families and friends. Not new, but always a draw, is the festival Art Walk that will take place along Third Avenue. There will be music on Third too!
The popular Holiday Model Trains display will once again be on display in the Main Gallery of the Monmouth Museum. This is one of the most unique Train Exhibitions in the world because it is surrounded by an International Juried Art Exhibition, this year’s theme is, Fabulous Food! The trains have 6 lines on 3 levels, with over 1200 scale feet of track. The model train layout includes an airport and Jersey Shore seaside boardwalk amusement park. Much of the community is represented by the various real estate named for local businesses and families. The Ocean County Society of Model Railroaders assemble the Holiday Model Trains and create numerous upgrades and additions to this ever-expanding display. The exhibition is designed for kids of all ages, with interactive buttons accessible for their height.

According to Webster’s Dictionary, “Edgy” means “at the forefront of a trend, experimental, avant-garde, innovative, original, or offbeat. The Main Gallery will showcase works in all media – acrylic, assemblage, collage and mixed media, oil, pastel, photography, sculpture, watercolor and wood in a variety of unusual subject matter. Reception Sunday, January 6, 3 – 5 pm.

This is an opportunity to eliminate barriers and misconceptions surrounding mental health, encourage positive conversations to reduce stigma, and shed light on the changing climate of mental health treatment in NJ. The event will contain paintings and drawings, mixed media, and several forms of creative expression provided by children and adults seeking services at OceanMHS.

At the Asbury Park museum there will be a presentation by Claire T. Garland, Director of the Sand Hill Indian Historical Society and Sharon Coleman Davis. The two ladies will share their family roots and history of the Cherokee Indian inhabitants of our area going back to the early 1700s.
