The Brothers Grimm hit the stage with an epic fairy-tale about wishes, family and the choices we make. Everyone’s favorite storybook characters are brought together for a rare modern classic. The story follows a baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King’s festival; and Jack who wishes his cow would give milk. When all of their tales and the tales of other fairy-tale characters lead to the woods and become intertwined, dreams come true and wishes are granted. Their happiness has consequences though, and the characters are forced to band together to save the world from destruction. The musical score by Stephen Sondheim is breathtaking.

For this special concert, the husband-and-wife team will join forces to play a series of intricate “four hand” duets on a single piano. “I love to hear Stephanie and Paolo together,” says pianist and NEA Jazz Master Dick Hyman. “They are an inspiration. Such sympatico! Such back-and-forth! Individually they are marvelous musicians–we’ve known that, but together they play 4-handed stride as it’s never been done. Brava, bravo!”
