According to Webster’s Dictionary, “Edgy” means “at the forefront of a trend, experimental, avant-garde, innovative, original, or offbeat. The Main Gallery will showcase works in all media – acrylic, assemblage, collage and mixed media, oil, pastel, photography, sculpture, watercolor and wood in a variety of unusual subject matter. Reception Sunday, January 6, 3 – 5 pm.

Engelbert Humperdinck never wanted to be a singer. A career in music, yes, but he was extraordinarily shy. The youngest boy of a family of ten children originally from Leicester, England, he grew up in Madras, India, where his father was stationed during World War II. Engelbert’s childhood was dominated by the love of his parents and his brothers and sisters. He knew he could sing harmonies, but the power of his own voice came as a surprise to him and other people. “It’s just so loud, but I discovered I can be tender with it at the same time.”
In a career spanning almost 50 years, Engelbert has generated sales in excess of 140 million records, including 64 gold albums and 35 platinum, four Grammy nominations, a Golden Globe, and stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Las Vegas Walk of Fame, and Leicester Walk of Fame. He has performed for the Queen four times, several presidents and many heads of state. He has recorded everything from the most romantic ballads to movie theme songs, disco, rock, and even gospel. His unique voice has charmed millions of fans around the globe. However, it’s not just the voice, but the man himself, with his endearing sense of humor and self-deprecating jokes. Lead guitarist and co-founder of the legendary group the Kinks, Rock N Roll Hall of Famer Dave Davies returns to the USA for a 2019 tour, highlighting his contribution to the Kinks legacy with his revolutionary guitar sound that changed rock `n` roll and his unique writing style.
Dave will be celebrating the release of his new rock album “Decade”, which is receiving rave reviews. He will perform a set of solo hits and Kinks classics , accompanied by his accomplished band.
Dave Davies is the pioneering rock guitarist who single-handedly changed rock-n-roll when he sliced his little green Elpico amp speaker with a razor blade, creating the first heavy metal guitar tone and riff. This revolutionary guitar sound propelled the Kinks into stardom with the global smash hits ‘You Really Got Me’ and ‘All Day and All of the Night’, followed by numerous other classics over the next decades.
“You Really Got Me and All Day and All of the Night were predecessors of the whole three-chord guitar genre,” says musicologist Joe Harrington. “The Kinks were one of the bands responsible for turning rock ‘n’ roll into rock.”

Come to Monmouth Museum to see physical therapist Yaffa Liebermann present “I Stand up Straight”. “I Stand up Straight” is a fun and educational picture book that teaches children correct posture through a memorable poem, beautiful illustrations, and easy to follow children exercises. Space is limited with only a 25 person maximum capacity.
Children ages 7 and up are welcome to come to Monmouth Museum for a fun interactive hour of science and learning. Chaperones are required to attend and booking sessions max out after 10!
