Hero 5k run will take place at 9:30am. Hero ceremonies are at 10:30am. The walk is a 5k walk along the Ocean City boardwalk. We raise awareness of the importance of sober designated drivers. Boys have been singing at Vienna’s Imperial Chapel since 1296. In 1498, Maximilian I (HRR) moved his court to Vienna, lock, stock, and choir, thus founding the “Hofmusikkapelle” (Chapel Imperial), and the Vienna Boys Choir. Over the centuries, the Viennese Court attracted great musicians like Isaac, de Monte, Fux, Caldara, Gluck, Salieri, Mozart, and Bruckner; Joseph Haydn, Michael Haydn, and Franz Schubert were themselves choir boys. Until 1918, the boys sang exclusively for the court. In the 1920s, the choir was reestablished as a private organisation. Since 1926, 2482 Vienna Boys Choir has sung 1000 tours in 97 different countries. Gerald Wirth is the choir’s Artistic Director, and its president.

The sounds of the season spring to life as Monmouth Civic Chorus presents their annual holiday concert. Artistic Director Dr. Ryan Brandau masterfully intertwines original settings of holiday favorites with a plethora of favorite choruses from Handel’s beloved Messiah and Bach’s brilliant Magnificat.

The Guild’s wacky “All-Member Edgy Exhibit” will be on display for the month of January. According to Webster’s Dictionary, “Edgy” means “at the forefront of a trend, experimental, avant-garde, innovative, original, or offbeat. The Main Gallery will showcase works in all media – acrylic, assemblage, collage and mixed media, oil, pastel, photography, sculpture, watercolor and wood in a variety of unusual subject matter. Reception Sunday, January 6, 3 – 5 pm.

Directed by Michael Mayer, this new production features a dazzling 18th-century setting that changes with the seasons. Diana Damrau is the doomed heroine Violetta, opposite Juan Diego Flórez as her lover, Alfredo, and Quinn Kelsey as Alfredo’s protective father, Giorgio Germont.

In this 2-hour self-defense course women ages 16 and up will be taught basic striking, as well as how to escape from holds, chokes and grabs. Defensive moves are taught from both standing and ground positions. Dan Chandler a 2nd degree black belt and American Top Team Level 3 MMA instructor with years of experience working with kids and adults will lead class.  *Please wear comfortable clothes*

Engelbert Humperdinck never wanted to be a singer. A career in music, yes, but he was extraordinarily shy. The youngest boy of a family of ten children originally from Leicester, England, he grew up in Madras, India, where his father was stationed during World War II. Engelbert’s childhood was dominated by the love of his parents and his brothers and sisters. He knew he could sing harmonies, but the power of his own voice came as a surprise to him and other people. “It’s just so loud, but I discovered I can be tender with it at the same time.”

In a career spanning almost 50 years, Engelbert has generated sales in excess of 140 million records, including 64 gold albums and 35 platinum, four Grammy nominations, a Golden Globe, and stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Las Vegas Walk of Fame, and Leicester Walk of Fame. The 4th Annual Lobster Run, a 5k to care for the coast, benefiting the American Littoral Society. Join the American Littoral Society and Langosta Lounge for a lobster themed fun run along the Asbury Park boardwalk. The event is for all ages and ability levels. Bring your spouse, kids, nature lovers or outdoor enthusiasts. Form a team with co-workers or denizens of your favorite bar and whet your appetite for brunch at Langosta Lounge. The American Littoral Society promotes the study and conservation of marine life and habitat, protects the coast from harm, and empowers others to do the same.

Kids start and finish at the same location running 1/2 mile south on the Boardwalk and back. Parents are welcome to run or walk with kids, but are not required. Awards will be given to the First, Second and Third place overall boy and girl and in each age group.

Lead guitarist and co-founder of the legendary group the Kinks, Rock N Roll Hall of Famer Dave Davies returns to the USA for a 2019 tour, highlighting his contribution to the Kinks legacy with his revolutionary guitar sound that changed rock `n` roll and his unique writing style.

Dave will be celebrating the release of his new rock album “Decade”, which is receiving rave reviews. He will perform a set of solo hits and Kinks classics , accompanied by his accomplished band.

Dave Davies is the pioneering rock guitarist who single-handedly changed rock-n-roll when he sliced his little green Elpico amp speaker with a razor blade, creating the first heavy metal guitar tone and riff. This revolutionary guitar sound propelled the Kinks into stardom with the global smash hits ‘You Really Got Me’ and ‘All Day and All of the Night’, followed by numerous other classics over the next decades.

“You Really Got Me and All Day and All of the Night were predecessors of the whole three-chord guitar genre,” says musicologist Joe Harrington. “The Kinks were one of the bands responsible for turning rock ‘n’ roll into rock.”

Dave will be celebrating the release of his new album “Open Road” recorded with his son Russ Davies, as well as the upcoming film “Dave Davies: Strangers” and a new solo album due for release later in the year. He will perform a set of solo hits and Kinks classics , accompanied by his accomplished band.
