Friday, February 16th the Mambo Kings will be performing some seriously spicy music that is sure to bring you to your feet. The Mambo Kings celebrate the music and history of Latin America with a jazzy twist, incorporating musical influences from several genres and incorporating into one great show! Diavolo architecture in motion uses dance to portray the connection between the human body and its architectural environment. The Diavolo group has had an incredible twenty five years of performances and continue to put on a great show for all. With intense physical choreography, no narration and incredible display the performance shows how we as humans are all affected emotionally, physically and mentally with the experiences and places that humans inhabit.

This February 27th, a screening of the movie “I, Tonya”, will be screening at Count Basie Theatre. Come see the cinematic rendition of the drama that surrounded Tonya Harding’s career as a figure skater and her attempts to become accepted into the figure skating community.

ROCKIT: Rockit Academy, The Count Basie Theatre’s resident rock and roll performance program, is helmed by the Rockit Live Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Rockit! runs four, seven-week programs per year, where kids aged 8-18 learn a specific repertoire of songs, supplemented with individual instruction. At the conclusion of their session, as many as sixty young musicians form separate groups to perform live on the Basie’s historic Asbury Park Press stage.

Come see Tyler Henry’s the star of E! Entertainment’s hit television show, Hollywood Medium, on April 5th at Count Basie Theatre, with his new show titled “5 life lessons I’ve learned from the departed.” Tyler will share his “unique gift” and how this affects his daily life.

Foster’s first round was as a studio musician, arranger, and recording artist. His second round was becoming one of the most successful songwriters and record producers in history — shepherding albums that have collectively sold in the hundreds of millions. This period of his four-decade career also found him creating The David Foster Foundation and volunteering his time and talent to over 400 charities, as well as becoming a household name as a performer throughout Asia where he tours annually.

For his third round, Foster is gearing up to take on Broadway with several projects. These include writing the music for a new musical about the iconic, animated character Betty Boop, which will be directed by Tony Award-winner Jerry Mitchell. In January of 2016, brothers Zachary and Dylan Zmed (acoustic guitars/vocals) and their partner (drummer in the group) Burleigh Drummond began developing The Everly Brothers Experience show. Since then they have celebrated the pivotal sounds of The Everly Brothers music with enthusiastic crowds all across the US and over seas in iconic clubs, theaters, performing arts centers, casinos, ballrooms, and coliseums. Howie Mandel has remained a constant force in show business for over 30 years. Mandel is executive producer of many shows through his production company ALEVY PRODUCTIONS, which has produced the series Take It All and Howie Do It for NBC, Deal With It for TBS and Mobbed for FOX, among others. He currently serves as a judge on NBC’s hit summer talent competition series, America’s Got Talent, that just completed it’s 12th season with this being Mandel’s eighth season on the series. Previously, Howie received an Emmy nomination for “Outstanding Host For A Reality or Reality-Competition Program” for Deal or No Deal and a Daytime Emmy nomination for “Outstanding Game Show Host” for the syndicated version of the show. . From his work on the Emmy-Award winning St. Elsewhere to the international animated children’s series Bobby’s World, Howie has become a mainstay of the American comedy scene. He has done countless comedy specials both on cable and network television. He has also hosted his own syndicated talk show, The Howie Mandel Show, and continues to be a mainstay on the talk-show circuit. Howie also continues to perform as many as 200 concerts a year throughout the US and Canada.

In recognition of the 80th anniversary of the release of Disney’s film SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS, the Company of Dance Arts is remounting this ballet which first premiered in 1994. This production features original choreography by Yvonne Lamb Scudiery, guest artists from NYC ballet companies, music by master composers, exquisite costume and set design, and the accomplished young dancers of the Company of Dance Arts. A story well known and loved by all, youngsters as well as the young-at-heart will be thoroughly entertained!

With a career that encompasses five Grammys, numerous chart successes and personal and professional accolades, as well as collaborations with some of the world’s most prominent artists, Michael McDonald remains an enduring force in popular music. Hailing from St. Louis, McDonald arrived in Los Angeles in the early 1970s, honing his talents as a studio musician before becoming an integral part of Steely Dan. In the mid-’70s McDonald was invited to join the Doobie Brothers as the band redefined their sound with McDonald serving as singer, keyboardist and songwriter on such Top 40 singles as “Takin’ It To The Streets,”“It Keeps You Runnin’,”“Minute By Minute” and “What A Fool Believes.” Throughout the ’80s and ’90s McDonald’s solo career took off with a string of hits including “I Keep Forgettin’ (Every Time You’re Near),”“Sweet Freedom,”“On My Own” (with Patti LaBelle) and the Grammy-winning James Ingram duet “Yah Mo B There,” plus he co-wrote the Van Halen hit “I’ll Wait.”McDonald has performed with a who’s-who of critically acclaimed artists across a number of genres, including Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Elton John, Joni Mitchell, Vince Gill and Grizzly Bear.
McDonald’s forthcoming album, Wide Open (out September 15 via BMG), finds him collaborating with a number of special guests including Warren Haynes, Robben Ford, Marcus Miller and Branford Marsalis. McDonald’s first album of original material in 17 years, Wide Open is comprised largely of material written over a number of years in-between projects and recorded in McDonald’s Nashville studio with drummer Shannon Forrest(Faith Hill, Blake Shelton, Tim McGraw, Toto) and an extensive cast of Nashville session musicians. The record follows a trio of albums of R&B and soul covers McDonald recorded for the fabled Motown label, the most recent being 2008’s Soul Speak.
