Mar 10 @ 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm

Rodney Carrington is a multi-talented comedian, actor, singer and writer who recorded eight major record label comedy albums, which have sold millions of copies. Rodney then released three new albums on his own record label called Laughter’s Good Records. An album of new songs and material entitled Laughter’s Good debuted at Number One on the Overall Comedy Charts. The same week, the re-release of Rodney Carrington Live, C’mon Laugh You Bastards debuted at Number Two on the Overall Comedy Charts. He then went back into the studio to record The Hits which also reached number one on the comedy charts.  According to Pollstar, Rodney has been one of the top ten highest grossing touring comedians for the last ten years and among the top 5 the last several years. Rodney is on track to be in the top 5 again this year as he regularly performs to sold out crowds across the US, Canada, and even Australia.

Rodney’s popularity derives, in large part, from his connection with his audience, both at his live shows, and through social media. By the looks of his schedule, he shows no signs of slowing down!

East Lynne Theater Company presents a Playwriting Workshop at The First Presbyterian Church @ ELTC in residence at The First Presbyterian Church

Instructor, Gayle Stahlhuth, artistic director of East Lynne Theater Company, uses writing and simple acting exercises to trigger the writer’s imagination. Participants are encouraged to create short plays during the workshop.

Aside from performing, directing, and producing, Stahlhuth is also a produced playwright, who has received writing commissions from The Smithsonian Institution, Theatreworks/USA and The Illinois and Missouri Humanities Councils, and grants from The New Jersey Humanities Council.  Her plays have been performed at such places as the NYC International Fringe Festival, The Samuel French One-Act Festival, Manhattan Theatre Club, Arvada Center in Denver, the Pennsylvania Stage Company, the Phoenix Theater in Indianapolis, and the Equity professional East Lynne Theater Company, located in Cape May. She has taught playwriting to a variety of ages throughout the country at theaters, universities, libraries, public schools, and writing conferences. For several years, Gayle was a popular workshop leader at the now-disbanded North Wildwood Beach Writer’s Conference.

Bob Weir is one of the founding members of the legendary Grateful Dead, which received a GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007. The band has also appeared on Forbes’ list of top-grossing entertainers and in the early ‘90s were the highest-grossing concert attraction in the U.S. Since establishing the band in 1965, Weir has become one of rock’s finest and most distinctive rhythm guitarists. “Wolf Bros is something that really took its roots back in the spring of 2015 when Don Was came up to TRI and helped us piece together Dead & Company,” Bob Weir said of the new project in a statement. “For a while now I’ve been itchin’ to explore our songs in a trio setting. An upright bass, my acoustic or electric guitar and a drummer. We did some rehearsals this past spring and it was big fun—and that’s the whole idea. We were kickin’ around Dead songs as well as tunes from my back pages. I’m pretty sure we’re gonna have a big adventure with this…”

Summer of Love @ Count Basie Center for Arts
Mar 22 @ 8:00 pm – 10:30 pm

Glen Burtnik brings you the Summer of Love Concert. This Concert focuses on iconic rock music from the period of time generally between the 1967 release of The Beatles revolutionary album Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band and the famous Woodstock Music and Art Festival in 1969.

Joined by 12 or more performers including a horn section, strings, keyboardists, percussionists, background vocalists and an incredible rock rhythm section, the Summer of Love Experience recreates “note for note and absolutely live” the songs, and the psychedelically flavored spirit, of the Woodstock Generation.

The Summer of Love Concert includes music from artists like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Dylan, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Santana, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Jefferson Airplane, The Association, The Turtles, The Beach Boys, Scott McKenzie, Mamas and the Papas, Country Joe, Ravi Shankar, Procol Harum, Joe Cocker,  Melanie, The Spencer Davis Group, Cream, The Youngbloods, and many more nuggets and surprises! The songs run the gamut from the psychedelic songs to rockin’ album tracks to a sprinkling of now hip Top 40 pop from that era. Jean Mikle, feature writer for the Asbury Park Press and Pulitzer Prize finalist, writes “The Summer of Love Concert, led by Glen Burtnik… was, for me, one of the highlights of this year’s concert going experience…..and……..I go to a LOT of shows.”
